Making the best use of our finite resources should be a huge priority for the nations of the world, yet we still waste so much of what we can't replace. If we want there to be a civilization in the future, we should take a look at what we're leaving for them to live on, and live with.

Have you ever been at the top of your game? You know, when you know who you are, what you want. Everything is just falling perfectly into place, and then in an instant something happens and your world is no longer reflective of anything you once knew?

It is probably one of the hardest things to go through. Especially if you are no longer in your twenties, you have made a family, and well, your looks won't take you as far as they used to.

So what do you do? Where does one even start in a situation like this?

What I know for sure, there is a process for everything. When we fall, we look back to see what made us fall. Then we asses where we fell and how deep the wounds are. And then finally we get back up.

That maybe a simple example to such a dire situation, but sincerely, is it really any different?

I know that for me, seeing how I am living this at the moment, I had to accept the reality of it. Believe you me, I was and still am tempted to throw wood on a fire, get cozy, and cuddle up with a nice bowl of 'poor little me' soup. Don't do it! Bad idea! Why?  You get stuck there.

No, instead keep a flow. Continue to do the things that you still can. Shower, shave, laundry, all of the alike. It may sound petty but I am telling you - stagnancy is your enemy! So keep car pooling the soccer team, little league, you know the routine.

The reality is hard to face. It is hurtful and painful. But at the same time it can be a new start, a thriving force in such an ill time. For me, it is all about perspective. If you look at the good, you will see the good. If you focus on the bad, it will get worse.

Remind yourself that everything will be okay. It will. Believe in yourself. Self confidence brings power, your power to overcome this and anything else that may come into play.

Find support! Whatever situation that you might be facing, you are not alone. And support is out there. Be careful though. Friends and family can be your best dream come true or a complete nightmare. So when you are putting your support team together, make sure that your success is their motivating force to cheer you on and up.

Start creating a plan. Oh the mighty plan! What a wonderful thing to have. Just so you know, for me creating a plan is like doing the dishes. "Do I have to"? YES! Have you ever heard of the expression "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"? Well it is true!

The better prepared you are the better your outcome will be.

Now what? You have everything up to this point in order. You're still in therapy... Oh woops, that's me.  Hey! Don't knock it to hard... Any chance to be completely selfish and have everything about me and no one can complain... I'm all in.

Seriously, what to do now? Oh yes, putting the plan into action. See this for me is a taunting task. I analyze then analyze that analysis and then...Well you get my point. Focus on the plan and put it into play. This for some as well as for me is the hardest part. However, this is the BEST part! This is when and where everything starts changing again. Gets better and then right back on top again.

That is one of the amazing facts about life. We write our own story. And although each individual process differs from here to there - there is a basic guideline. So whatever your situation may be and how your process plays out, know that there is always another chance to get right back on top. Believe in yourself and you will be there sooner than you think.
